Contemporary Scottish Printmaking

Ethos

Finnoch Press Established 2018

The Finnoch Press story

Finnoch Press is an independent publisher of prints and chapbooks based in Dundee, Scotland. Founded by me Craig Nugent in 2018 to to make available editioned prints, editioned chapbooks and multiples. The ethos of the press is inspired by the do-it-yourself ethic of late 70s punk fanzines — ideas and attitude above all. The aim of the press is to concentrate on non-establishment, non-gallery based work from both myself and hopefully other artists/writers in collaboration.

At the moment we have one chapbook and a variety of prints on offer. Over the coming months I aim to build on this and increase the amount of chapbooks and prints, it can't all be at once unfortunately.

Submissions

Finnoch Press would love to hear from Scottish based writers, poets, artists and musicians with a view to collaborative publications. I am particularly interested in areas such as:

Text and language  how we communicate; responses to the ever present instabilities of text and language. Establishing communal meaning. Textual puzzles, conundrums, riddles, emblemata etc.

Scottish history  national identity: is there such a place as Scotland? Is Scots a bona fide language or a dialect of English? Is the promotion of Scots Gaelic as the authentic voice of Scotland a post referendum picturesque conceit? The festering plague of Scottish historical editorials and bogus histories, thoughts?

Locality and place "to make a start out of particulars...", to paraphrase William Carlos Williams.
